CIB holds special alumni event to mark 10-year anniversary

With the participation of alumni from as far away as California and Texas, the Chanticleer Intelligence Brief hosted a special event to mark 10 years of continuous operation at Coastal Carolina University. The event was held on Saturday April 11, 2026, on the sidelines of the annual INTEL Careers Day event, which was held by the Center for Applied Intelligence at CCU.

Event participants included over two dozen alumni, including several former CIB directors, numerous former executive officers, and members of the organization, who traveled from all over the country to mark this historic milestone for the CIB. The majority of the current CIB Executive Team was also present, led by CIB Chief Operations Officer Brandon Macallair and CIB Executive Director Lilyanne Sweat, who closed the event with a moving speech.

The CIB Faculty Mentor, Dr. Joseph Fitsanakis, led participants on a journey to the past, sharing archival audiovisual material from the CIB’s history, which began in early January 2015, when the organization began to form itself. Among the material shared (some of it for the first time) with the audience included photographs from the first-ever membership meeting of the CIB on January 21, 2015. The questions of the first-ever CIB news Quiz (January 2016) were shown, along with the answers, as well as commemorative photographos form the organization’s first semiannual end-of-semester banquet in May 2016.

The CIB is now the oldest continuously operating student-led organization in the INTEL program and one of the oldest and most respected such organizations at CCU. Since its inception, it has held over 350 meetings and has served over 1,600 undergraduate and graduate members from the INTEL program and almost every department and major at CCU. We look forward to continuing to serve our members and populate the US intelligence community and private sector with our former members!
