Senior Analysts and Support Officers of the Chanticleer Intelligence Brief’s Critical Mission Center program briefed a six-member delegation from the United States Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) on Thursday, March 23. The DIA delegation stopped by Coastal Carolina University’s state-of-the-art Intelligence Operations Command Center (IOCC) during their day-long recruitment tour of CCU.

Four paid interns currently serve as directors of the CIB’s Critical Mission Centers. They are surrounded by teams of support officers, who perform daily intelligence collection and analysis tasks throughout the semester. For the past several months, the team has been working on a topic of critical interest to the national security of the United States, which has been assigned by the Office of Academic Engagement of the National Security Agency (NSA).

Critical Mission Center Directors briefed the DIA delegation on the results of their research for approximately 30 minutes, using the briefing conventions of the United States intelligence community. Following the briefs, the members of the DIA delegation offered constructive feedback to the Critical Mission Center teams. They also compared the format and delivery of the information presented to them with daily briefing tasks that take place at the DIA.

Later this semester, the student analysts of the CIB will be traveling to an NSA secure facility in order to present the findings of their semester-long research.
