CIB Intelligence ReportThe third episode of the CIB Intelligence Report, the television show that covers the latest developments in the Chanticleer Intelligence Brief, is now online. The 14-minute episode can be accessed on the CIB TV YouTube channel, here. The show was filmed at the new studio facilities of the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, located on Coastal Carolina University’s Conway campus in South Carolina. It is hosted by the CIB’s Chief Operations Officer, Katelyn Montrief, an Intelligence and National Security Studies undergraduate who specializes in Turkish politics and the relations between Turkey and the United States.

This first episode of the CIB Intelligence Report provided some essential background on how the CIB project began, the vision behind it, as well as the group’s current projects and activities. We spoke with the founder and first Executive Director of the CIB, Ben Malone, and the group’s Faculty Mentor, Dr. Joseph Fitsanakis. Our second episode featured interviews with the then-CIB Executive Director Blake Gutberlet, a specialist in Africa, and CIB Quality Assurance Officer Ryan Haag, who worked on North Korea.

In our third episode, we continue our preoccupation with North  Korea, and we hear from Matt Pologe, the CIB’s current specialist on the Korean Peninsula. Matt, a senior from Glen Rock, NJ, is majoring in Intelligence and National Security Studies with a minor in Sociology. He has been recognized for his work in the CIB, including receiving the Intelligence Advancement and Best Intelligence Essay awards. We also have with us Rachel Panichella, a senior from Mullica Hill, NJ, majoring in Communication with a minor in Intelligence and National Security Studies. Rachel studies interpersonal communication with an interest in human intelligence. At the CIB, she focuses on the power dynamics of the Mexican drug cartels. This past April, the CIB’s America’s section, of which Rachel is a member, won the CIB’s Intelligence Analysis Award for delivering the highest-quality oral analytical product during the semester.

Our fourth episode will be out in August. It will feature the reflections of two departing CIB executives, who will share their views about their work and career here at CCU, and offer advice to incoming CIB members. In the meantime, enjoy episode 3!
