In January 2022, the Chanticleer Intelligence Brief (CIB) at Coastal Carolina University (CCU) launched the Applied Intelligence Project (AIP) and Internship. This competitive program offers a hands-on experience that places CIB members in an intelligence collection setting, in support of critical-mission objectives. This semester-long activity takes place in CCU’s state-of-the-art Intelligence Operations Command Center (IOCC), which is located in the Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts. Each semester, between two and six interns serve as AIP Critical Mission Center (CMC) Directors, with each of them overseeing the work of several AIP Support Officers. These teams are tasked by government agencies with collecting critical information on crises and hot spots around the world as they emerge, in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
To apply for a place in the Applied Intelligence Project for the coming Spring 2026 semester, please complete the application below before the end of Wednesday October 22, 2025. For information about this program, contact Dr. Joseph Fitsanakis.
