A team of CIB students, in association with CCU’s Coastal Law Enforcement Analysis and Research (CLEAR) are piloting a new project aimed at informing members of South Carolina’s public and private sectors about threats to critical infrastructure. The project is being piloted in coordination with the South Carolina InfraGard Members Alliance (SCIMA), an initiative led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) with thousands of vetted members nationally.

The InfraGard program provides a vehicle for seamless public-private collaboration with government that expedites the timely exchange of information and promotes mutual learning opportunities relevant to the protection of critical infrastructure. Its membership includes business executives, entrepreneurs, military and government officials, computer professionals, academics, and state and local law enforcement officials.

The project is led by three CIB members, Chief Operations Officer Scott Boster, Senior Analyst Nathan Wynkoop, and Analyst Katelyn Bredow (pictured above). They serve as the editors of the bi-weekly Current Intelligence Report, which is produced for the benefit of SCIMA members across the state. The Current Intelligence Report highlights timely developments that concern the 16 critical infrastructure sectors “whose assets, systems, and networks, whether physical or virtual, are considered so vital to the United States that their incapacitation or destruction would have a debilitating effect on security, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination thereof” (CISA).
